Who Is This For?

StoreHub merchants setting up a new POS register for the first time- powering on your hardware, loading paper, connecting to the internet, and adding peripherals (printer, cash drawer, barcode scanner, webcam).

Already set up but something stopped working? See How to Troubleshoot Your POS Register.

Overview

This article walks you through setting up a StoreHub POS register from scratch - powering on your device, loading paper, connecting to the internet (Wi-Fi or Ethernet), and adding peripherals like a printer, cash drawer, barcode scanner, or webcam. Each section gives inline action steps; deeper topics (advanced printer config, network troubleshooting, cash drawer issues) link to dedicated articles.

Before You Begin

  • Your StoreHub-shipped hardware (router, register, printer, cash drawer, peripherals) is unboxed and on hand.

  • You have the power, LAN, RJ-11, and USB cables that came with your devices.

  • If your shipment arrived damaged or items are missing, contact StoreHub Support for assistance.

Set Up an iPad Register

Set Up Your iPad

1. Turn on the iPad. At the 'Hello' welcome screen, slide the screen to the right.

iPad Hello welcome screen.

2. Choose your language and country or region.

3. If you have an existing Apple device (iOS 13.1 or later), place it near the new iPad to use Quick Start. Otherwise, tap 'Set Up Manually' and follow the steps below.

Notes:

  • We recommend creating an Apple ID specifically for your store. Using your personal Apple ID may cause your personal iMessages and emails to appear on the iPad.

  • The store Apple ID should be linked to an email address you are comfortable letting employees access, in case they need to install or reinstall apps.

  • You can use one store Apple ID for multiple iPads.

4. Select your keyboard language.

5. Join your StoreHub router WiFi network and enter the password.

Note: If you don't know your WiFi password, see WiFi Password in the troubleshooting article.

6. Read the Data and Privacy notice and tap 'Continue'.

7. Set up a Touch ID or a passcode (optional).

8. For Apps and Data, choose 'Restore from Backup', 'Move from Android', or 'Set Up as New iPad' based on your preference.

9. Agree to the Terms and Conditions.

Note: You may also see optional features during setup such as Express Settings, Location Settings, Screen Time, and diagnostic reports.

10. Read the introductory iPad features, tap 'Continue', and tap 'Get Started'.

Note: For Apple ID help, see the official Apple guide.

Configure Your iPad for StoreHub

1. Go to 'Settings' → 'General' → 'About' to check your iPadOS version. Make sure it's updated to the latest version.

Notes:

2. Go to 'Settings' → 'Display and Brightness'. Set 'Auto-Lock' to 'Never'. This prevents your iPad from sleep mode.

3. In 'Settings', scroll down to 'App Store' and toggle on 'Apps' and 'App Updates' under Automatic Downloads.

Note: After iPad setup, download the StoreHub POS app. See How to Set Up and Update Your POS App.

Connect Your Register to the Internet

Your POS register can connect to the internet 2 ways. For Android registers we recommend Ethernet (LAN cable) for stability; iPad uses Wi-Fi only.

Option A: Ethernet (LAN cable) - Android only, recommended

This setup is recommended for businesses managing Online Orders or operating in a fast-paced environment. An Ethernet connection ensures a stable and reliable network connection, minimizing the risk of disruptions during peak hours.

1. Plug a LAN cable from your StoreHub router into the LAN port on your register.

Notes:

  • Locate the LAN port on your Android POS Register - it can be identified by the green and yellow LED indicator lights when a cable is connected.

  • StoreHub Router:

    • Only use Port 2 onwards to connect your devices. Port 1 is reserved for your main internet provider (ISP). Plugging into Port 1 will cause your StoreHub Router to lose internet connectivity.

    • The router model shown in the image may differ from yours, the same logic applies across all StoreHub Routers regardless of model.

2. On your register, go to 'Settings' → 'Network' → 'Ethernet'.

3. Make sure Wi-Fi is turned off (Ethernet and Wi-Fi can't be used at the same time).

Option B: Wi-Fi - Android and iPad

1. On your register, go to 'Settings' → 'Network' → 'Wi-Fi' (or 'Settings' → 'WiFi' on iPad).

iPad WiFi network selection screen.

2. Select your StoreHub router Wi-Fi network and enter the password.

Note: If you don't know your WiFi password, see WiFi Password.

3. Once connected, tap 'Set As Default WiFi' on the POS App.

Notes: All StoreHub devices (POS, printers, KDS, NCS) must connect to the same StoreHub router. For details on managing your network (ISP router replacement, reconnecting after a router change, troubleshooting connection errors), see How to Manage Network Settings for Your StoreHub POS and Printer.

Connect to Supplementary Devices

Connect Your Receipt Printer

Most StoreHub setups connect the printer to the router via LAN. Android POS Registers supports a direct USB connection if you only have one printer at the cashier. For iPad, you can use Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.

Option A: LAN - connect printer to router (default for all devices)

This setup is recommended when your printers are located at a significant distance from the cash register - for example, at a kitchen station or drinks station.

1. Connect the printer's power cable to a power outlet and switch the printer on.

2. Plug a LAN cable from your printer's LAN port into an available LAN port on your StoreHub router.

These steps can be repeated for additional printers- simply follow the same process as your kitchen or station printer count grows.

Note: Make sure your POS register is on the same StoreHub Wi-Fi or Ethernet network.

Option B: USB - connect printer directly to register

1. Plug the printer's USB B cable into the USB B port on the printer.

2. Plug the other end (USB A) into an available USB port on your Sunmi D3 Pro.

Option C: Bluetooth - iPad Only

1. Power on the printer.

2. On your iPad, go to 'Settings' → 'Bluetooth' and toggle Bluetooth on.

3. On the printer, hold the 'Pair' button until the light turns blue.

Note: For full printer setup details (kitchen printers, multiple printers, supported models, maintenance), see How to Set Up Your StoreHub Printer.

Connect Your Cash Drawer

Your cash drawer connects via an RJ-11 cable. Where to plug it in depends on your register model:

  • For Sunmi D3 Mini / iMin Falcon 1 / iMin D4 : Plug the RJ-11 cable into the 'Cash Drawer' port on the register.

  • For Sunmi D3 Pro/ iPad: Plug the RJ-11 cable into the cash drawer port on the receipt printer.

  • 12 o'clock (upright): Standby - drawer opens automatically when a receipt prints. Leave it here.

  • 9 o'clock (left): Manually opens the drawer.

  • 3 o'clock (right): Locks the drawer.

Perform a test transaction. If the drawer pops open when the receipt prints, setup is complete.

Connect Your Barcode Scanner

For scanner modes, supported models, factory reset, and pairing issues, see How to Set Up and Use Barcode Scanners.

Connect Your Webcam

A webcam is used for employee face capture at clock-in.

  • Supported model: Logitech C270 (Android only, not supported on iPad).

  • Where to buy: StoreHub merchandise store (Malaysia, Philippines, or Thailand).

1. Plug the webcam's USB cable into any available USB port on your Android POS register.

2. Mount the webcam on top of the screen, angled to capture the employee's face during clock-in.

3. When you launch the StoreHub POS app, a prompt will explain the face capture feature.

For the full face-capture feature setup (employee security, shift reports), see How to Set Up Employee Security and Shift Reports.
