Why Membership Tiers & Rewards Matter

Your best customers don’t just buy once — they come back, spend more, and spread the word.

Membership turns everyday shoppers into loyal fans with rewards that grow as they do: points, cashback, perks, and exclusive promos.

Here’s what makes it powerful:

  • Boosts spend as members aim for the next reward.

  • Builds loyalty through moments that feel personal.

  • Puts you in control — tailor every tier to fit your business.

Whether you're running a café or scaling retail, Membership helps you grow — no extra tools or complex systems needed.


How to Set Up Membership Tier

Tiers

Every journey starts at Tier 1. As customers spends, they earn points that help them level up through 4 membership tiers. Each tier unlocks better rewards, bigger perks, and more reasons to keep going.

Here’s how the journey looks:

  • Tier 1: Member The entry point. Start collecting points and get access to your first round of rewards.

  • Tier 2: Silver You’ve hit your stride. Unlock extra perks and exclusive promotions.

  • Tier 3: Gold Priority treatment, premium rewards, and offers that go beyond the basics.

  • Tier 4: Platinum This is the top tier – think ultimate access, top-tier perks, and recognition that really counts.

You’re in full control. Set the rules, choose the rewards, and tailor each tier to fit your brand and your customers.

To begin, click on Membership Settings to view all available tiers, then click Edit in the Tier section.

Notes:

  • The tier names are set by default and can’t be changed.

  • Each tier also comes with 2 built-in benefits:

    • How many points members earn for every RM1 they spend

    • Their cashback percentage

  • You can adjust the numbers for both in the settings, but the benefits themselves are fixed.


Points

Progress through the tiers is all about points. Customers earn points every time they spend, and once they hit the threshold you’ve set, they’ll move up to the next tier. You decide how many points they get for every RM1 spent, and how many points they need to level up.

1. Set the number of points your customers need to earn to move up through the tiers.

2. Set how many points they’ll collect for every RM1 they spend.

Note:

  • Make sure the point threshold and earn rate you set for each tier is higher than the one before it.

Points Settings

You can also limit how many times a customer can earn points in a day. A handy way to reduce the risk of fraud or misuse. Here’s how:

1. Go to Points Settings.

2. Choose how many times a customer can earn points per day – or set it to unlimited.

3. Set the expiration period for the points.

4. Click Save.


Cashback Settings

Alongside earning points, your customers can also collect cashback – a little extra they can use on their next visit. You decide how much cashback they earn at each tier.

Each tier’s cashback amount is equal to or higher than the one before it. That way, the rewards feel like they’re building over time. You can also set a daily cashback limit to help prevent misuse or fraud.

1. Go to Cashback Settings.

2. Choose how many times a customer can earn cashback per day – or set it to unlimited.

3. Set the expiration period for the cashback.

4. Click Save.


Membership Benefits

This shows your customers what they’ll unlock at each tier of your Membership Programme. The benefits you add here will be displayed in their app – to make the rewards feel exciting and easy to understand.

Each tier comes with 2 default benefits:

  • The number of points earned per RM1 spent

  • The cashback percentage.

These can’t be changed directly – but if you update the points or cashback values for a tier, the display will update automatically.

Click Add Benefit and customize the rewards to match your brand experience.

Note: You can only add up to 5 benefits descriptions.


Promotions

Promotions are a great way to make each tier feel extra rewarding. They're best used for ongoing or recurring promotions that members of a specific tier should always have access to rather than one-time offers.

When a customer levels up, you can give them something special to claim and use every time they shop.

Notes:

Before you can assign a promotion to a tier, you’ll need to create one first. Only 2 types of promotions can be used for tiers:

If you haven’t set up either of these, the dropdown list will be empty when you try to assign a promotion.

To get started, click on Go to Promotions.

Once your promotion is ready, click Add promotion and just link it to the tier you want.

Note:

  • If you want to remove a promotion from a designated tier, the system will first check if there are existing members in that tier.

  • If there are, the eligibility will be changed to "Everyone" and be disabled.


Price Books

Price Books let you offer special pricing to members based on their tiers – a great way to reward loyalty with exclusive deals.

Once a customer meets the conditions for a specific tier, any items linked to that Price Book will automatically be offered at the special tier price.

Note:

Before you can tie a Price Book to a tier, you’ll need to create it first. If no Price Books appear in the dropdown list, it’s likely because none have been set up yet.

Get started by clicking on Go to Price Books.

Once your Price Book is ready, click Add Price Book, and select the one you’d like to assign to that tier from the list.

Note:

  • If you want to remove a price book from a designated tier, the system will first check if there are existing members in that tier.

  • If there are, you will need to go to the specific price book and uncheck the tier tagging before proceeding.


Tier Upgrade Rewards

When a customer levels up, you can automatically reward them with a little something extra – no claiming needed. These rewards are applied instantly upon tier upgrade, starting from Tier 2 onwards.

Only 2 types of promotions can be used for Tier Upgrade Rewards:

To Set It Up:

1. Create your promotion first (must be one of the 2 types above).

2. Click Add Tier Upgrade Reward.

3. Select the promotion you want to use for each tier.

4. Set a validity period (up to 180 days).

5. Click confirm.

The rewards will be automatically given to the tier members who reach the specified.

Notes:

  • Each promotion can only be used once within your Membership Rewards.

  • If you've already assigned a promotion to Tier Promotions, New Member Rewards, Birthday Rewards, or the Point Shop, it won’t appear in other dropdowns.

  • To use a similar reward in multiple places, you’ll need to create a separate promotion for each one.


How to Set Up Rewards

You can offer special rewards to celebrate key moments in your customer’s journey – whether they’re just joining, celebrating a birthday, or redeeming their points.

There are 3 types of rewards you can set up:

  • New Member Rewards

  • Birthday Rewards

  • Points Exchange Rewards

These aren’t everyday perks – they’re thoughtful extras that make your customers feel valued on special occasions.

Before you begin, you’ll need to create a promotion first. Only two types are supported:

New Member Rewards

Welcome your customers with a reward, right from the start. New Member Rewards help make a great first impression – automatically sent when someone joins your membership program.

1. Click Add New Member Reward.

2. Choose a promotion you want to tie to this reward. (Make sure it’s an Amount Off or Percentage Off promotion.)

3. Set the validity period – up to 180 days, if you like.

4. Choose whether to allow promotion stacking (Optional)

  • This lets your customers combine the reward with other general promotions when checking out at the POS register.

5. Click Confirm to activate the reward.

Notes:

  • To delete a reward, first toggle off the Issuing button, then click the bin icon to remove the reward.

  • You won’t be able to delete a reward if a customer is currently using it.

Birthday Rewards

Celebrate your customers on their special day with an automatic reward. This feature works for all members with a birthday saved in their profile.

1. Click Add Birthday Reward.

2. Select a promotion from the dropdown list. (Only Amount Off or Percentage Off promotions apply.)

3. Choose when to issue the reward (between 5 to 30 days before their birthday).

4. Set the validity period (up to 180 days).

5. Choose whether to allow promotion stacking (Optional)

  • This lets your customers combine the reward with other general promotions when checking out at the POS register.

6. Click Confirm.

Notes:

  • For Engage enabled Merchants, when you launch Membership for the first time, your Engage campaigns for Welcome New Customer and Birthday Promo will be paused.

    • “Welcome New Customer” will be replaced with the new “Welcome New Members” campaign.

  • Before going live, review and update your SMS campaigns for:

    • Birthday Promo

    • Welcome New Members

  • Make sure your SMS messages clearly reflect the rewards you’ve set up in Membership. Refer to this article for more info.

Points Shop

Let your customers turn their points into rewards they can actually use. With the Point Shop, members can exchange their earned points for exclusive promotions.

1. Click Add Points Reward.

2. Select a promotion from the dropdown menu. (Make sure it’s an Amount Off or Percentage Off promotion.)

3. Enter the number of points required to redeem the reward. (You can set any value between 1 and 1,000,000 points.)

4. Set the validity period (anywhere from 1 to 180 days.)

5. Choose whether to allow promotion stacking (Optional)

  • This lets customers use the reward alongside other general promotions at the POS register.

6. Click Confirm.
