How to set up takeaways

What You Will Learn in This Guide

  • Learn how to set up takeaway orders at your POS register.


Important Notes

  • Service charges will automatically apply for service-chargeable orders.

  • If you do not wish to apply a service charge for service-chargeable orders, workarounds; such as creating two orders to separate dine-in and takeaway items can be done.


Enable Takeaway

1. Go to BackOffice, click on Settings.

2. On the Account Settings page, select F&B tab, scroll down to Takeaway section then select Yes at Enable Takeaway.

Note: Once Takeaway is enabled, you will see the option to input Additional Takeaway Charge; which is an optional field.

3. Click on Save.


Additional Takeaway Charge

Regarding tax, service charge, and discount for additional takeaway charge, please refer to the table below.

Order Type

Additional Takeaway Charge

Takeaway - Whole Order Takeaway

  • Additional charge is taxable

  • Additional charge is non service chargeable

  • Additional charge is non discountable

Table Layout - Whole Order Takeaway

  • Additional charge is taxable

  • Additional charge is non service chargeable

  • Additional charge is non discountable

Dine-In - Specific Item Takeaway

  • Additional charge is taxable

  • Additional charge is service chargeable

  • Additional charge is non discountable

Table Layout - Specific Item Takeaway

  • Additional charge is taxable

  • Additional charge is service chargeable

  • Additional charge is non discountable

Tax for additional takeaway charges depends on the Default Tax selected at the BackOffice.

Note: If you have enabled Group Multiple of The Same Item feature. Takeaway by single item will not apply.

Example: 3 Beep Mee has been added to the bill. Customer would like to have 1 Beep Mee to takeaway, while the rest is for dine in.

It is not possible to takeaway the 1 Beep Mee as the item has been grouped together.

Taking Order

I. Takeaway - Whole Order Takeaway

1. On your POS Register, select Takeaway from the dropdown between the trash can and ellipsis symbols.

2. Add items to the order.

Notes:

  • If there is additional takeaway charge, the amount will be added to the item price automatically.

  • If service charge is enabled, it will be toggled off automatically for orders that contain takeaway items only.

  • After the transaction is completed, service charge will be toggled on again.

II. Table Layout - Whole Order Takeaway

1. If Table Layout is enabled, you may select Take Away to skip table layout and create a Takeaway order.

Note: Table layout is not applicable for takeaway orders that consist of takeaway item(s) only.

III. Dine-In - Specific Item Takeaway

1. On your Register, create a Dine-In order, then add items to the order.

2. Toggle on Takeaway for specific item(s).

Notes:

  • A Takeaway tag will appear under the item name once Take Away is turned on.

  • If there is an additional takeaway charge, it will be shown beside the Takeaway tag.

IV. Table Layout - Specific Item Takeaway

1. Select a table, then add items to the order.

2. Toggle on Takeaway for specific item(s).
