Set Up Your Bixolon Label Printer Hardware
This section guides you through loading the label roll into your Bixolon SLP-DX220 printer.
1. Slide down the two side tabs on the printer to open the lid.

Understand Bixolon Printer LED Indicators
The Bixolon SLP-DX220 thermal label printer uses two LED lights to show its status. These lights help you quickly understand if the printer is ready or if there's an issue.
LED 1 (Green) | LED 2 (Red) | What It Means |
On | On | ✅ Ready to print (Standby Mode) |
On | Blinking | ⚠️ Paper jam or sensor issue |
Blinking | On | ⚠️ Printer head is overheating |
On | Off | ⚠️ Paper cover is open |
Blinking | Off | ⚠️ No paper loaded |
Off | Blinking | ⚠️ Media calibration failed |
Blinking | Blinking | ⚠️ Auto-cutter error |

c. Demo Print
Prepare Your Product List for Barcode Printing
You'll need to export your product data from StoreHub BackOffice and format it for LabelArtist II software.
1. In your BackOffice, go to 'Products'.
2. On the 'Product Page', click the 'Export to CSV' button. This will download a file with all your product information.
3. You need to convert this CSV file to an XLSX (Excel) file.
a. Open Google Sheets and create a new blank spreadsheet.
b. Go to 'File', then click 'Import'.
c. Select 'Upload', then drag and drop your downloaded CSV file, or click 'Browse' to find it. Click 'Import Data'.
d. Once imported, remove any columns you don't need, keeping only 'Product Name', 'Price', and 'Barcode'.
e. Highlight the column with prices. First, change the currency format if needed, then switch the format to 'Plain Text'. This ensures the printer reads the price correctly.
f. Go to 'File', then 'Download', and click 'Microsoft Excel (.xlsx)'.
Design and Print Barcode Labels
Use LabelArtist II (Windows)
Now you will use LabelArtist II software to create and print your barcode labels.
1. Open the 'LabelArtist II' application on your computer.
2. When prompted, select 'Bixolon SLP-DX220' from the printer list and click 'Next'.
3. A 'Printing Preferences' window will appear. Adjust the size of your label sticker to match your physical labels, then click 'OK'.
4. A blank label design page will appear. This is where you will create your label.
5. To connect your product data, go to 'Database' in the top menu, then click 'Connect Database'.
6. Select 'Microsoft Excel File (*.xls, *.xlsx)' and choose 'Tab' as the sheet type.
7. Click 'Browse' to find and upload your prepared XLSX file (the one you exported from BackOffice and converted earlier). Once the product data appears, click 'Finish'.
8. You can now design your label. Use the tools to insert 'Text' for product names and prices, and 'Barcode' for the barcode number. Arrange them as you prefer on the label.
9. To link a text box to your product name:
a. Double-click the text box you want to link (e.g., for 'Product Name').
b. In the properties window, tick the 'Link Database' checkbox.
c. From the 'Field List', choose 'Product Name' and click 'OK' twice. The text box will now show the product name from your data.
10. To link a barcode to your product barcode number:
a. Double-click the barcode element.
b. Tick the 'Link Database' checkbox.
c. From the 'Field List', choose 'Barcode' and click 'OK' twice. The barcode will now display the barcode number from your data.
11. Once your label design is complete, go to 'File', then 'Print...', then click 'Print Label'.
12. If you want to use this label design again, click 'Yes' when prompted to save the template.
Note:
This is important as it allows you to easily open and print more labels later without redesigning.
13. Your printed label stickers should look similar to this example:
Note:
Use Code 128 for most product barcodes. It’s widely supported by scanners.
14. For printing Chinese Characters:
If your labels include Chinese characters and they are not printing correctly, you may need to adjust the printer settings.
a. Find the 'Font' settings in 'Text Properties' and ensure a suitable font that supports Chinese characters is selected.
Use LabelArtist Web (Mac)
1. Open LabelArtist Web in your browser.
2. Set label dimensions (e.g., 57mm x 32mm).
3. Import your .xlsx product list.
4. Add a Barcode field (use Code 128).
5. Add text fields for Product Name and Price.
6. Arrange layout and align everything.
7. Click Print to preview and send it to printer.
