Who is this for?
StoreHub merchants who want to know what their current stock is worth for month-end accounts, insurance, stock-takes, or to spot slow-moving stock that is holding your money.
Overview
The 'Stock Value' report shows what your current stock is worth right now. It adds up the cost of everything you have on hand and shows it as one 'Total Value', with a full breakdown by product. Use it for your month-end records, for insurance, or to see how much money you have sitting in unsold stock.
Before You Begin
Access to your StoreHub BackOffice.
Permission to view Stock Management. If you are on a staff account and can't see 'Stock Management', ask your account owner to enable it for you under 'Employees'.
Where to Find the Stock Value Report
1. Log in to your StoreHub BackOffice.
2. On the left-hand menu, click 'Stock Management'.
3. Click 'Stock Value'.
What the Report Shows
At the top you'll see two totals for the store you have selected:
'Total Value': What all your current stock is worth, added up. This is the cost value: for each product it takes your cost per unit and multiplies it by how many you have on hand, then adds every product together.
'Total Items': The total number of units you have on hand across all products.
A simple example: if you have 40 units of an item that cost you RM12 each, that item's stock value is 40 × RM12 = RM480. The 'Total Value' is every product worked out this way and added together.
Below the totals, each product has its own row. Here is what each column means:
Column | What it means |
Product Name | The name of the product. |
SKU | The product's SKU (stock-keeping code), if you set one. |
Quantity On Hand | How many units you currently have in stock. |
Cost (RM) | What one unit costs you. StoreHub works this out as the average of what you've paid for that item, and updates it each time you receive new stock (for example, when you mark a Purchase Order 'Received'). |
Price (tax-excluded) (RM) | What you sell one unit for, before tax (your selling price). |
Cost × Quantity (RM) | That product's stock value at cost (Cost × Quantity On Hand). These add up to your 'Total Value'. |
Price × Quantity (RM) | That product's stock value at selling price — useful if you want to know the retail value of your stock instead of the cost value. |
Cost value vs. selling value: the headline 'Total Value' is your stock at cost (what you paid for it). If you want the value at selling price instead, look at the 'Price × Quantity' column.
Spot slow-moving stock: click a column heading to sort the list. For example, sort by 'Cost × Quantity' to see which products are holding the most money.
Choose a Store, Filter, and Export
Choose a store
Use the store selector at the top right of the page to pick which store you want to see. The report shows one store at a time.
Filter the list
1. Use the 'Suppliers', 'Categories', or 'Tags' dropdowns at the top (they start on 'All') to pick a specific one, then click 'Apply Filter'.
2. Click 'Reset Filter' to clear them again. The 'Total Value' and 'Total Items' totals at the top recalculate to match your filter, you can read one category's or one supplier's stock value straight off the page.
Export
To save or share the report, click 'Export to CSV'.
This downloads the list as a spreadsheet you can open in Excel or Google Sheets. The export follows the filters you've applied, and includes a few extra columns you don't see on screen, 'Barcode', 'Margin', 'Category', 'Product Tags', and 'Suppliers'.
Important Things to Know
It shows your stock right now. The 'Stock Value' report is a live snapshot of your current stock, it doesn't show a past date. For last month's figure, see 'Need your stock value for a past month?' just below.
One store at a time. The report shows the store you've selected, there is no single view that adds up all your stores. To get a company-wide figure, check each store and add the 'Total Value' figures together.
It updates as your stock changes. The value reflects your current stock on hand, so it changes as you sell, receive, or adjust stock. Once a Purchase Order is marked 'Received', the new quantity is counted straight away.
Need your stock value for a past month? The 'Stock Value' report only shows today's stock, but you have two options:
For a one-off: export the report on the last day of the month and save it, so you have that record.
To see how much your stock was worth at the start and end of each month, regularly: StoreHub has a separate 'Stock Movement Report' that shows this. It's being rolled out to selected merchants, ask StoreHub Support whether it can be enabled for your store.
Troubleshooting
Problem | What to do |
A product shows a negative 'Quantity On Hand' (and a negative value) | This usually means more was sold than the system recorded, stock was never counted in, or a Purchase Order wasn't received. A negative row also lowers your 'Total Value', so fix it: do a 'Stock Take' for that product to correct the on-hand quantity (see How to Perform a Stock Take). |
I received a Purchase Order but the value didn't change | The value updates as soon as the Purchase Order is marked 'Received', so first check it's marked 'Received'. Next, check the product's 'Cost' isn't blank or 0. A 0 cost adds 0 value even when the quantity goes up. If the quantity and cost both look right and the value still hasn't updated after you refresh, contact StoreHub Support with the Purchase Order number and your store name. |
The 'Total Value' looks too high, it looks like my selling price | 'Total Value' is your stock at cost, not selling price. If a product's 'Cost' is blank or set to 0, its cost value shows as 0. Go to 'Products', open that item, and check its 'Cost'. |
I need my stock value for last month | 'Stock Value' shows current stock only. For a one-off, export it on the last day of each month and keep it. If you regularly need your stock's start- and end-of-month value for past months, StoreHub's 'Stock Movement Report' shows this by month. Ask StoreHub Support whether it can be enabled for your store. |
I can't find 'Stock Value' in the menu | It's under 'Stock Management', not 'Reports'. If you still can't see it, your staff role may not have access. Ask your account owner to check under 'Employees'. |
The Stock Value page won't load or is blank | Refresh the page or try a different browser. If it still won't load, contact StoreHub Support with your store name. |
FAQs
1. Can I see my stock value for a past date, like the end of last month?
The 'Stock Value' report itself shows only your current stock. For month end records, you can export it on the last day of each month and save it.
2. Can I see the stock value for all my stores at once?
No, the report shows one store at a time. To get a total across all your stores, select each store and add the 'Total Value' figures together.
3. Is 'Total Value' my cost or my selling price?
It's your cost value, what you paid for the stock. If you want the value at the selling price, use the 'Price × Quantity' column instead.
4. Why does one of my products show a negative quantity?
A negative quantity means the system thinks you sold more than you had in stock, often because stock wasn't counted in, or a Purchase Order wasn't received. Do a 'Stock Take' to correct it (see How to Perform a Stock Take).
5. When does my stock value update after I receive a Purchase Order?
As soon as you mark the Purchase Order 'Received', the new quantity and value are added straight away, there's no waiting period. If it's marked 'Received' and you don't see the new value yet, refresh the page.
