Who is this for?
StoreHub merchants (retail or F&B) who use the Vita Scanner and need to scan products with 13-digit barcodes.
Overview
By default, the StoreHub Vita Scanner is set to UPC-A mode (used mostly in the USA and Canada). If you are in Asia, Europe, or other regions, your products likely use EAN-13 (13-digit) barcodes.
If your scanner scans the barcode but omits the first number in front on the POS, you may be in the wrong mode.
This guide shows you how to switch modes so your scanner can read your product labels correctly.
Which mode do you need?
UPC-A Mode: For products with 12 digits (Common in USA/Canada).
EAN-13 Mode: For products with 13 digits (Common globally/Asia).
Before You Begin
Scanner Connected: Ensure the Vita Scanner is plugged into the USB port of your POS device.
Check Your Product: Count the digits on your product's barcode sticker to see if you have 12 or 13 numbers.

Troubleshooting
Issue | Solution |
Scanner does not beep when scanning the screen | Your screen might be too dim. Increase brightness to 100% or zoom in on the barcode image. |
Scanner beeps but product not found | Check if the barcode number in your BackOffice matches the physical sticker exactly. Ensure there are no extra spaces. |
Scanner light is not on | Unplug the USB cable and plug it firmly into a different USB port on the POS device. |
FAQs
1. Do I need to do this for every new product?
No. Once you scan the setup codes, the scanner will stay in that mode for all future products.
2. Can I use both modes at the same time?
Usually, yes. Enabling EAN-13 often allows the scanner to read both 13-digit and 12-digit codes, but it depends on the specific firmware. Test both to be sure.
